Beer description
Double IPA is a strong, intensely hopped beer with a clear emphasis on bitterness and a dry, clean character. Its color ranges from golden to light orange-copper and its aroma is full of citrus, floral, resinous and tropical notes from modern American or New Zealand hops. The taste is complexly hoppy with high bitterness, often with fruity elements, but the beer remains easy to drink, without harsh astringency. Medium to high body and a slightly warm alcohol finish are typical. This category was born in the 1990s as a response to the growing demand for hoppy beers and is today considered the pinnacle of the hoppy experience.
