Beer description
Until the end of the 19th century, many thousands of German seasonal workers came to the north of the Netherlands every year to help with the hay harvest, the "Hannekemaaiers". They met with farmers at the Zaailand in Leeuwarden to make arrangements. There they enjoyed Leeuwarden beer from the many breweries that the city had at the time. The Wip beer was famous at the time, named after the levers used to draw the water for this beer from the city's canals.
Buckwheat Blonde is brewed according to old recipes of the time with oats and buckwheat as characteristic ingredients, which give it its slightly bitter but mild taste. The low alcohol content makes Buckwheat Blonde an invitation for more.
