This historic bridge was constructed in two phases in the early 1900s. It was originally known as the Bridge of Pines, a name that described its scenic surroundings.The bridge deck was designed so the boards ran diagonally along its roadway, and only the alternating ends of every board were secured. Back when vehicles were allowed to cross the bridge, the loose ends caused a unique noise.
