De Wegtrekker is a sour beer with added honey and wild berries. The sourness is achieved through "Kettle Souring". Lactobacilli (lactic acid bacteria) acidify the wort in the brewing pan for 36 hours. The lactic acid bacteria give the beer a citrus-like, fresh and fruity sourness. Honey and pure blackberries, raspberries and blueberries give it a beautiful pink color and the taste of forest fruits. This is complemented by the use of French hops, Barbe Rouge, which impart notes of red fruits. Due to the use of oats and wheat in the malt recipe, Wegtrekker has a nice pink head for a Kettle Sour.
