Here's a little game we like to play from time to time: take a 'traditional' beer base and spice it up with an ingredient that'll put the Reinheitsgebot to shame.
Today's style is Doppelbock,
a malty, low-fermentation beer with a slightly high alcohol content.
We've paired it with Black Curry to bring out the warm, spicy notes.
The Black Curry is subtle enough not to overpower the caramelised malt base, but just to accompany it gently without it becoming overpowering.
