The Pils or Pilsner is a light full-bodied beer brewed with bottom-fermenting yeast. Named after its origin, the Bohemian (now Czech) city of Pilsen, Pils as we know it today is brewed and drunk throughout Germany. The special "Pilsner Malt" gives the Pilsner its light golden yellow colour. Together with the bottom-fermenting yeast, it is responsible for the light and lean flavor profile with little body.
