Inspired by a 19th-century Baltic porter recipe and weighing in at a hefty 9.5%, Catherine the Great is the biggest beer in range. Heavy notes of smokiness, malted barley, rye-bread, and whiskey, are countered by elegant tastes of dark fruit and coffee beans, making this complex and full-bodied beer a great supporting act to rich red meat dishes, with heavy, dark sauces. This porter’s dry and bitter finish is packed with tastes of dark chocolate and notes of grass. It is also brewed with peated barley, which contributes heavily to its deep, earthy taste.
