Beer description
La Guernouillette Rousse is a pure malt beer made by the La Guernouillette brewery in Saint-Brieuc (22). It is a Pays de Brabant beer (top-fermented ale). Pays de Brabant is a province in the south of the Netherlands bordering Belgium and known for its brewing culture. The foam head is ample and persistent, fairly dense, beige/cream colored and airy. The beer has a beautiful dark amber color with slight ruby reflections reminiscent of maple syrup. The nose is malty with notes of yeast, caramel, fruit (raspberry) and toast, with relatively little hopping. Malt dominance is evident in the mouth with notes of toasted grain, toast and caramel. The beer is well carbonated, the bitterness is light and you look for a little bit of hop notes. In the mouth it is quite dry and perhaps lacks a little body. In the finish you can feel a slight acidity that could be a little less present.
