The color of Kaiserhof Zoigl resembles that of a deep smoky amber. It is darker than most Zoigl beers, as was the case with the "old" Kaiserhof Zoigl. The foam is fine-pored, firm and lasts a long time, there is a fine, fruity bubble. The beer is pleasantly full-bodied on the palate, especially in the unfiltered beer floating yeast gives it a special fullness. In the finish, a subtly bitter hopping rounds off the malt flavors of the beer.
