India Pale Lager is one of those styles every brewer has a different take on. IPL is hoppier than average lager, but still very sessionable. There are no dry hops additions, but plenty of late whirlpool additions. On the bittering units scale, it’s quite a bit higher than other lagers, which are around 25-28 IBUs. The bitterness is balanced with complex (but soft) malts and a bit of fermentation character. Goal was not to have a stripped-down IPA with all hops and no esters Hans’ day was so boring, he decided to make an India Pale Lager. He is a wise man and knows that idle hands are the devil’s play things.
