Green-Hopped English Pale Ale. To celebrate the harvest at its fullest & freshest, we've joined with our good friends at Tiley's to make a traditional English Pale ale. It boasts a kettle full of fresh green hops, picked off the bines in the Garden of England only a day before. Though a new producer to us, Hukins Hops have been farming in the Kent Weald for a century and that dedication is evident down to the individual hop cone. These crops of Challenger & Cascade are classic examples of their breed; rich in orange peel and sweet lychee with a crisp, structured bitterness and hovering overtones of fresh flowers and spicy cedar. All this sits on a base of traditionally floor-malted Maris Otter, from Warminster maltings, with some amber & light crystal added for a toasty biscuit character. Using Wet Hops may be more labour on brew day but the cones have not undergone any kilning or drying, meaning all their lighter, more delicate oils, usually sacrificed for shelf-stability, are not lost between bine and boil; a perfect way to celebrate the harvest and early autumn.
