Maisel & Friends - Hopfenreiter #8 (2023)

Since 2016, different breweries from around the world have been coming together to contribute their personally selected hop varieties to our popular Double IPA. Year after year, this results in a unique collaborative beer with an international character. In July 2023, five breweries brought us their hops for Hopfenreiter #8 and brewed the Double IPA together with us: - Sorachi Ace from Mücke (Essen) - Motueka from Unverhopft (Berlin) - Elixir from Brique House Brewery (Lille, France) - Nelson Sauvin from Lervig (Stavanger, Norway) - Cashmere from Sori Brewing (Tallinn, Estonia) - Tango from Maisel & Friends with the kind support of BarthHaas. Hopfenreiter #8 (2023): Our hop-packed beer appears in the glass as a bright amber color with a slight haze. The lush and creamy head alone makes you eager for that first sip. Even from a distance, the Hopfenreiter enchants the nose and is so complex that with every change in temperature, it releases new, wonderful aromas reminiscent of freshly squeezed lemon, grapefruit, and orange peel. Spicy notes play into this bouquet, reminiscent of hints of pepper and thyme. The aromatic journey continues through peach, mirabelle plum, passion fruit, blueberry, cassis, and honeydew melon. The Double IPA reveals its dominant bitterness on the palate right from the start. It accompanies the beer connoisseur throughout, remaining wonderfully harmonious and perfectly integrated. All the fruity aromas stimulate the taste buds and delight every hop lover. The 8.5% ABV is barely noticeable, almost making the drinker forget that this is a strong Double IPA.
