Beer description
Syrah grape and apple mead fortified with brandy and aged 26 months in a combination of red wine and imperial stout barrels.
Making Bones is our series of 20% ABV meads made with honey and fruit (zero water), fortified with brandy and then aged in barrels. This 6th Anniversary edition is a blend of two Making Bones barrels: one made with local Syrah grapes and meadowfoam blossom honey and aged 26 months in a red wine barrel, and the other made with apples and local wildflower honey and aged 26 months in an imperial stout barrel.
The result is a mead about as big and crazy complex as anything we've done. Richly decadent, bold and boozy, the best way to describe it is if you've ever had a mouthful of quality Tawny port with a bite of chocolate and swirled them around for a bit. It's like that. Notes of toffee, blackberry jam, fig, tons of chocolate and caramel apple. Finish is loooong and luscious.
