Beer description
NZ Vienna Lager with Fir.
Despite all the mess involved in the brewing process, we’d been itching to use fir branches again since February 2022, when we’d created Captain Kirk Douglas, a Douglas fir Cold IPA that we’d really enjoyed.
Gaël’s uncle was once again conscripted to fetch some coniferous wood for us from the forests around La-Petite-Pierre in the Northern Vosges.
Just for a change, this time we used spruce and pine branches.
While we were at it, we also changed the beer style, opting for a Vienna Lager.
96% Vienna malt for cereal and very slightly caramelised notes, a Lager yeast for a super-clean profile, the famous New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hop (without dry hopping) to create a lovely pairing with the resin of the fir and pine, and there we have a devilishly drinkable brew.
In short, our beautiful fir trees, kings of the forest, have been stripped of their beauty to offer us this sweet brew!
Das präsentiert sich bernsteinfarben und trüb. Der Geruch ist sehr dezent. Im Geschmack kommt Nadelholz durch. Aber unaufdringlich und abgestimmt.
