Beer description
Duister - Barrel-aged spontaneous sour stout
Stairs of stone, step by step descending into not-seeing, not-being. Cold fingertips touch your arm, a soft invitation into the circle. No sound, no question, no humanity. Looking for the kind of knowledge that nobody else has, the experience that nobody outside shares. In your one hand a silver platter with your heart, the other hand slowly closes itself around the dark side of the moon.
Duister is our second collab with Oersoep. The elusive magic of spontaneous fermentation in a pitch black, intense brew. Thick and salty, complex and sour, the spirit of laurel and red fruit. The finish offers vanilla and roasted nuts, with a hint of coffee and balsamic. This beer was fermented and aged on oak barrels for a total of 13 months. Duister is inspired by the traditional English beer style imperial stout.
