Beer description
Off Trail OBEDIENCE' is a thick, heavy barleywine style beer." Barleywine, meaning 'barley wine', is a high-alcohol, wine-like beer style that originated in 19th century England.
Building on the experience gained with BETRAYAL, the production process has been further improved this time around, with the introduction of a 'Polly Gyle' method, whereby the wort with sufficient sugar remaining after the first lauter (wort filtration process) is used as mash water for the second mashing, to recover more sugar. After two mashings and a total of 10 hours of extra-long boiling, the base beer is matured in bourbon barrels for eight months. The result is a sweet, heavy barleywine.
