Beer description
Captive Spirits, here in Seattle, makes Big Gin. For their peat barreled Big Gin, they age the gin for four months in Peated Single Malt Whiskey Barrels. They only use the barrels one time, then they gave us a couple of their used barrels. I chose to put our Portside Barleywine into the barrels because I felt there were some similarities between the big botanical aromas of the gin and the excessive use of hops in the beer. The barleywine also has the booze and the body to stand up to all the flavors and aromas of the barrel and not get trampled under foot.
