Beer description
Pilsner utilizing Virginia grown Pilsner malt and Bloody Butcher Corn.
We needed to come up with a beer to serve at an event called Paired, that occurs simultaneously with the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, which features 20 breweries and 20 chefs who pair beers and dishes. We wanted to brew something food friendly and also showcase Virginia so we went with a Pilsner featuring a number of Virginia grown ingredients from a local Maltster called Murphy & Rude. Specifically, we used their Virginia Pilsner as the base and also Bloody Butcher Corn, a VA heirloom since 1845 and known rich nuttiness and tea-like flavors. Grown by Messick's Farm on behalf of Powers Farm & Brewery in Midland.
