Beer description

Mara is a Slavic goddess who was associated with the seasonal dying and resurrection of nature and the rituals of invoking rain. She can appear in two guises: either as an angry water queen or as a beautiful companion of the god Kupaila. Mara is a goddess who embodies beauty and grace. Every spring, on the eve of the new (agricultural) year, the ancient Rusyns made effigies of Mara, which they burned or drowned in water. It was at the beginning of spring that we brewed this barleywine, and then it gained its strength and weight for a long time in barrels from Auchentoshan Scotch whiskey. It turned out dense, full-bodied, with rich caramel-malt notes, notes of oak, barrels and pleasantly warming alcohol on the finish.
