We tie a knot in the monastery herb garden. Walahfrid Strabo The scholar and herbal expert in the quartet of our anniversary edition. The herbal brew dedicated to him is a mild lager, flavoured with clary sage from the herb garden and lemongrass from modern island cultivation. Walahfrid Strabo lived as a Benedictine monk in the Reichenau monastery. He wrote the Hortulus, a book of poems on the cultivation of a medicinal herb garden - which still exists today. Our herbal pale ale combines monastic brewing tradition with today's art of brewing.
