Beer description
This brew pours a brownish red with deep ruby-red windows as the light shines through them. The beer was made for the NZ IPA Challenge and focuses on New Zealand hop varieties. The malts have a high proportion of Munich and red malt to get the nice reddish color. form a malt base on which the hops flavors can be hung. The hops focus on the New Zealand varieties Kohatu, Motuaka, & Taiheke and the new research line Hort 9909. The nose is reminiscent of citrus fruits and tropical fruit hops flavors with undertones of caramel malt. The taste is emphatically hopeful with hop resins that cover the tongue. The hop note of citrus fruits, tropical fruits and pine dominates with a hint of malt sweetness as undertone.
