In 1851, the 8th Hussars stationed their garrison in Paderborn and Neuhaus. Their captain and brewery owner, Adolph von Spiegel, is the namesake of the Hussar's Trunk. It is a golden, robust lager beer in the style of a Bavarian Märzen. It is characterized by a light sweetness accompanied by a fine bitterness.
