Beer description
HELLE special edition: Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier - Märzen.
For the Helle Märzen we use a lighter smoked malt, which is smoked over open beech wood, just like the classic Märzen. This gives the beer a bright amber color and the typical aroma of Aecht Schlenkerla smoked beers, which is so appreciated by aficionados all over the world. The taste is somewhat smoother than the classic Märzen, but with an even more pronounced smoky aroma.
With this unfiltered special edition, we are paying tribute to the long tradition of our Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier: on July 23, 1635, the world's first smoke-free malt drying plant was patented. Subsequently, smoke-free beers became established and smoked beer became a rare specialty. Only in Bamberg has the traditional smoke kiln been preserved to this day: the open fire in the Schlenkerla malt house still burns today.
Only briefly available on the Day of Smoked Beer Preservation on July 23.
