Beer description
California Common is said to be the original American beer style, which is referred to as hybrid. It is a beer fermented by the bottom fermentation yeast, but at the temperatures typical for the upper fermentation. There are several stories and legends about this beer. Perhaps it was really brewing and drinking in the gold rush era, and perhaps it was also chilled on the roofs of breweries by the cold breeze off the California coast.
