Bolleke De Koninck was first brewed in 1952 by Modeste Van Den Bogaert. It is officially a 'Belgian special beer', a Belgian reaction to the upcoming Pilsener. It became the most popular beer in Antwerp (city). The name was officially changed from 'De Koninck APA' to 'Bolleke De Koninck' in August 2019. The original recipe was restored by Sven Dekleermaeker.
