Swannay Brewery - Summer In Winter

The idea for the beer was a long distance collab between Swannay Brewery and part of the Swannay family, Harvey, who went to New Zealand snowboarding in 2019 and pretty much never came back. As Harvey gets back into his summer habits of paddle boarding, running and hiking; here in Orkney we batten down the hatches for westerly gales and get outside when we can. We love our Island Hopping - a quasi NZ pale ale - and love NZ hops generally. So we came up with a recipe to showcase some New Zealand hops varieties we don’t often use, including the luscious Nectaron (thanks Charles Faram). The beer's aromas and flavours remind us of summer; the summer that is now dawning in New Zealand.
