Metheglin made with honey, lime, and flavored galangal, long peppercorns and lemongrass, galangal was referred to as "The Spice of Love" by St. Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179), an herbalist and Benedictine Abbess, as it was one of her favorites to use.
