Where Kölsch is native to Cologne (aka Köln), Germany, Altbier hails from their neighbor up the Rhine, Düsseldorf (home of the Altstadt). Look for a subtly sweet, nutty malt character with additional notes of bread crust, light caramel, and a hint of roast.
