What do you get when you infuse an imperial stout with smoked malt and coffee? Naturally, Ashtray 9.5% imperial stout. Ashtray is a stout, with sweet and really intense aromas and fullness from the smoked malt that bring to mind a tarry combination of whiskey and liqueur. The beer's sweet bready, toffee-like and confectionary undertones create a symbiosis where a strong coffee flavor takes over.
The coffee blend that has been added is surprising, as the coffeeiness moves from a raspy espresso-like taste towards softness, nuttiness and sweetness. The body continues for a long time, creating a lingering and passionate experience in the glass.
