Beer description
The acquisition of a small number of tequila barrels gave us the opportunity to barrel age some lighter, more sessionable beers. Upland Wheat with its crisp and citrusy flavor was the perfect complement to the floral, herbal, and oaky flavors from the tequila barrel. The addition of lime and salt to the barrel additionally complements the tequila flavor. Fermenting with American ale yeast, instead of traditional Belgian wit yeast, removes the Belgian character from the beer and lets the barrel and citrus shine through. The result is a barrel aged beer that is light and refreshing.
