Upland - Schwarzbier FSQ

Schwarzbier is a dark, German style lager that was once a seasonal Upland favorite. Schwarz is a dark version of a German Pilsner with a very mild, smooth roasted malt character. This recipe was created in partnership with our friends Chilly Water Brewing Company down the street from our Fountain Square small-batch brewery. It’s built on a backbone of Sugar Creek Pilsner malt and painted black with Midnight Wheat from Briess, a malt that is highly roasted without husks for less bitterness and astringency. Black with ruby highlights and a foamy tan head. Clean, crisp and refreshing like a German Pilsner with a soft roasty chocolate backdrop.
