Local legend says that during prohibition, Drumheller was the site of a very unusual robbery. It occurred at the train station, where a barrel of moonshine was delivered. The police had been tipped off, so they stationed a guard to nab whoever came by to collect the goods. But a few days passed, and nobody showed. The officers then confiscated the cask for themselves…only to find it was already empty! Someone had drained out all the liquor by neatly drilling a hole into the bottom of the barrel, straight through the platform floor. The thief was never caught.
