Beer description

Loose Leaf is our new Earl Gray IPA. Brewed with cold Yorkshire days in mind, this beer is definitely your cup of tea. Put the pot on the stove and make yourself comfortable in the kitchen with a cup of Earl Gray, it's time for tea. This beer is infused with loose Earl Gray tea, expertly blended by Antonia & Panesar, who we have worked with many times to brew some amazing coffee beers. The idea of brewing a beer with tea had been in the back of our minds for a long time and we knew that an IPA was the only way to get all the delicious flavors out. We worked with Antonia & Panesar and chose this classic tea because of its perfect blend and its distinctive and delicious taste. When brewing Loose Leaf, we wanted to put as much Citra hops into the beer as possible. We used both cryo-hops and BBC pellets for this purpose. Cryo-hops are one of the most innovative and sought-after hops on the market. To make cryo-hops, the whole hop leaves are separated into concentrated lupulin (the good stuff) and wrapper leaves to preserve the essential oils and resins. The hops are then frozen in a cryogenic process at extremely low temperatures. The result is a hop pellet that doubles the hop power by 40-50% compared to conventional pellets. This process creates a hop pellet that is perfect for brewing IPAs and that brings out the juicy, resinous, and fruity properties of the hops. For us, this means that we get the same amount of lupulin in the beer, but only about half of the physical, plant-based substance, which is a godsend for the brewers when they have to carry up the sacks of hops. To add the tea, we brewed 15 kg of Earl Gray Tea in 75 liters of water at 80 ° C and then let it steep for 20 minutes. We then added the liquid and the huge tea bag to the wort so that the tea could be absorbed into the wort during fermentation. The smell of fermentation and aging was fantastic. The Earl Gray tea harmonizes wonderfully with the Citra hops and provides a wonderful bouquet of flavors and aromas. Expect floral hop aromas, along with notes of citrus and bergamot for a refreshing finish. It's time for tea, but probably not for your grandma.
