Beer description
Owd Mac's Imperial Stout has become a legend among connoisseurs and has developed a cult following since its introduction in 1999. With an original wort content of 26.5ºP / 1.106 and an ABV of 12.3%, it's easy to see why we call this bold brew a DOUBLE Imperial Stout. The base beer has roasted, coffee-like aromas and flavors, with a hint of caramel and a bitterness that offsets the sweetness of the unfermented sugar. After the first fermentation, Owd Mac's is decanted into American whiskey casks for a longer maturation, taking in the amazing aromas and flavors of vanilla, bourbon whiskey, figs and port wine. The original Owd Mac's was stored in barrels at the McCormick Distillery in Weston, MO, and the name Mac comes from that tradition. Today's Owd Mac's develops his flavors in Templeton Rye whiskey casks, which are sourced directly from the distillery in Templeton, IA.
