2022 Great American Beer Festival® Gold Medal Winner : Festbier returns!!! As a reminder, this is not a sweet, malty Märzen (though we love those too and have one coming soon!) this is a session Festbier made for celebrating! We start with a simple yet robust grain bill. Featuring all German heritage floor malted grains, specifically Barke Pilsner, Barke Vienna & Barke Munich malts. Step mashed at various temperatures to achieve our desired mouthfeel and dryness. Naturally acidified in the mash using sour wort. Hopped in the kettle with a moderate bittering addition of Hallertau Mittlefruh, then we give it a touch of Saaz right at the end of the boil. The beer was fermented low and slow with our house German lager yeast for many weeks, naturally carbonated, not fined, but filtered to desired brightness.
