Beer description
Hazy West Coast Pale Ale.
Tropical Thunder is a modern West Coast Pale Ale that combines the classic bitterness of the style with the intense fruitiness of New Zealand hops of the latest generation.
In the glass, it presents itself in a radiant gold color, typical of a West Coast Pale Ale. It is topped with a stable, fine-pored white foam crown. Already when poured, the beer emanates an explosive bouquet.
Due to the use of Nectaron and Superdelic, intense tropical notes dominate: Nectaron delivers massive aromas of ripe pineapple, passion fruit, and peach. Superdelic adds nuances of red berries, candied fruits, and a subtle citrus freshness to the profile. In the background, a subtle, clean malt sweetness (crackers or light bread) resonates, supporting the hop forefront.
The initial taste is lively and slim. Once again, the "tropical storm" of mango and citrus fruits unfolds on the palate. Unlike a New England IPA, the body here is dry and the texture is clear and hoppy. The bitterness is clearly present but well integrated - it is crisp and briefly lingers on the palate, quenching the thirst and inviting the next sip.
Conclusion: Tropical Thunder is the perfect fusion of old school (dryness and bitterness) and new hop art (fruity intensity). It is a highly efficient, aromatic Pale Ale that fully deserves the name "Tropical" with the New Zealand hops, without denying its "West Coast" roots.
