Description

The historic parent house Ahörnla in the heart of Sandstraße has made it its business to revive a tradition steeped in history in its premises. And all this under the sign of the unicorn, which is also called "Ahörnla" in Franconia. The unicorn not only gives its name to the building first mentioned in 1366, the Putnerhaus (Büttnerei) zum Eychhorn, but also to a unique brewery project whose origins themselves date back several centuries. First mentioned as a brewery in 1406, in 1961 the boilers of the Einhorn brewery went cold after hundreds of years of beer tradition. Only with the opening of the parent brewery Ahörnla in 2013, a part of this history revives. What was missing until now, however, was the beer. Born is a new heart project: the Ahörnla Bräu. Since for us tradition and sustainability go hand in hand, the brewery itself is based on the time-honored principle of the tower brewery. The special thing about this is that by making use of gravity, a significantly lower energy input is required during the brewing process. We also follow this principle with our energy source. Here, with the help of the most modern technology, we rely exclusively on biogas. Inspired by our predecessors and motivated by our future, we have created the most modern brewery in Bamberg in 2021.
