In 1874, Franz Stockbauer, the company’s founder and an honorary citizen of Passau, laid the cornerstone for this traditional brewery in the heart of Passau, the city of three rivers.
Here, beers are brewed with love, flavor, and heart, following all the rules of the traditional art of brewing. Today, just as back then when brewing first began.

In 1911, Franz Stockbauer and his wife Maria founded the “Stockbauer Foundation,” repeatedly demonstrating how important regional and social responsibility toward “his” city were to him. Even today, these values remain firmly anchored in the mission statement of Bayerische Löwenbrauerei Franz Stockbauer AG Passau.
