Description

Boon Rawd Brewery (Thai: บริษัท บุญรอด บ ริ ว เว ี่ ี่ ี่) is the oldest brewery in Thailand. It was founded in 1933 by Boonrawd Srethabutra. The best known brand of the Boon Rawd brewery is Singha. Every year 10,000 hl Singha are sold. Until a few years ago, Singha was the biggest beer brand in Thailand until Chang Beer (Thai Beverage) took the market lead. In addition, the following brands are manufactured and distributed: Singha Light, Singha Lager Draft, Singha Soda Water, Singha Water, Leo Beer, Thai Beer, Moshi Green Tea, and B-ing Lifestyle. Boon Rawd bought in 1994 two German breweries in Hartmannsdorf (near Chemnitz) and Mittweida in Saxony, which since then produce and sell Singha beer for Europe and their other products. Conversely, it was tried with great effort to distribute the brand Mittweida in Thailand, but this can be regarded as a failure. From 1995 to 2009, the brewery had its own airline PB Air. On 21 December 2009, however, the closure and liquidation was requested. In November 2015, it was announced that the European subsidiary of Boon Rawd Brewery will hold a stake of 49% in the German drinks producer Valensina in future through a capital increase.
