1842: The brewery is founded on the site of today's "Linde" by the Lindenwirt Josef Franz and the beer brewer Becht 1854: Josef Franz becomes the sole managing director and acquires the master brewer the following year. 1863: The brewery is completely destroyed by a large fire. 1867: Takeover the brewery by Carl Franz and construction of new buildings in 1869: 3,000 liters of beer were drunk when the new buildings were inaugurated 1951: Takeover of the brewery by Mr. Herbert Uhl and the descendants of the founders Josef and Carl Franz, the Wolf and Ketterer families 1967: Big celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the brewery after years of steady growth 1992: 150th birthday of the brewery: Mr. Herbert Uhl brings his majority stake in the brewery to one of his wife and him founded a non-profit "Foundation for the Promotion of Animal, Nature and Environmental Protection". The authorized officers Reinhold Fiedler and Werner Fritsch take over the management in 1997. The death of Mr. Herbert Uhl in 1998: The first freedom beer is brewed for the 150th anniversary of the 1848 revolution. Mr. Reinhold Fiedler takes over the sole management. In early 2015, the Franz brewery was sold to the Scheidtweiler brewing family in Pforzheim in 2015, but the Rastatt company with all 18 employees will continue to operate. The managing director is Wolfgang Scheidtweiler. The Franz beer is still brewed exclusively in Rastatt, barrels are filled directly, but bottles are bottled in the plant in Eppingen for hygienic reasons.
