After ending the farming business, the monks looked for a form of activity that had a good relationship between input and yield in terms of form and size, but that also suited them in terms of size.This particular abbey as a whole and its activities have always had a relatively small-scale character compared to most other Trappist abbeys. Careful consideration led to the decision in 2009 to start a small brewery. A small brewery, because as is often said: “monks brew to live and do not live to brew”. Construction work started in 2012.
