The HopHemel is a Limburg craft brewery that has been taking the beer world by storm since late 2020 by launching a completely new beer every month. What once began as a small, fast-moving home brewery that set the bar high and did not shy away from experimentation has now grown into a rental brewery with an annual volume of around 80 hectolitres and a Taproom in Hasselt. Every new beer is a one-off, which means as much as that it is brewed only once, and gone is gone. As zythologists, foodies and, of course, brewers, the search for surprising flavours and the right food pairing is deeply ingrained in Geert Vandormael and Steven Broekx, the brains behind this concept. For the development of the beers, they are therefore constantly looking for innovative combinations of the basic ingredients grain, hops and yeast, with or without the addition of spices, fruits or other additives, in order to create a special and unique beer every time. In the production of the beers, however, the tradition and craft of the brewing and production process is always respected so that a high-quality beer is always created. Besides developing and brewing beers, HopHemel aims to pass on the passion for beer and the right foodpairing. There is a very strong focus on 1 + 1 = 3: combining the right beer with the right dish ensures that both are raised to a heavenly level. Both the beers and foodpairings have been available in the Hasselt taproom since the end of 2022. From 2023, the in-house brewing hall will also open there. In addition to its own beers, the taproom offers a wide range of high-quality craft beers, high-quality non-alcoholic drinks and the right food pairings. You can also come here for tastings, and regular beer and foodpairing tastings and events are passionately organised.
