The birth of a legend Grodziskie beer is one of the oldest beers in Europe. His name comes from the city Grodzisk Wielkopolski, in which he was born. This is the only Polish beer that many brewers call 'the pride of Polish brewing'. The beginnings of brewing in Grodzisk Wielkopolski are in the Middle Ages. It is believed that this is the beginning of the 14th century and is based on the tradition of 1301. This drink was originally brewed by rich citizens who had their own grinding plant called "braseatorium". Brauelite In the 17th and 18th centuries Grodzisk flourished and brewed this beverage on a large scale at that time. Brewers who are aware of the uniqueness of the local beer attach great importance to its quality. This is evident from the records of the oldest surviving brewery law from 1601. The document regulated the production rules and protected the high beer quality. The production of beer was difficult and relatively expensive, it was highly appreciated. After brewing Grodzisk beer, it was tasted by the mayor and city council, and each barrel of Grodzisk liqueur was given a special seal that guaranteed its originality. There were severe penalties for violating these rules. Joining the guild of Grodno peasants was only possible for a few journeymen. The fees for those who wanted to join the Guild of Mueller immigrants were the highest in Greater Poland and amounted to 600 guilders, while the most valuable guilds in Poznan demanded 100 guilders for payment. The reputation of beer By Grodzisk Wielkopolski was already known throughout Wielkopolska and abroad in the 18th century and was exported to neighboring countries. The liqueur is so widespread that the city of Poznań almost exclusively imports and sells grodzisk beer, and the officials receive it as a reward for fulfilling their duties. Grodzisk beer was one of the most expensive beers, it was twice as expensive as other golden drinks sold at that time. Every respectable city dweller or nobleman wanted grodzisk beer in his house, which was considered a status symbol, and the owner wanted to offer grodzisk beer as extremely generous. In the interwar period Grodzisk beer was exported to 37 countries, including China and the USA, African countries. Beer was great at quenching thirst and not getting intoxicating at the same time. The Polish brewing capital Grodzisk Wielkopolski has been the largest brewing center in Poland for centuries, and Grodziskie beer has gained a tremendous reputation abroad that is unlike any other brewed in Poland. Grodzisk Wielkopolski was named "the Polish capital of beer" and it was here that the best brewery schools were working, where renowned experts were teaching. The decline of the legend and its revival after many years After 1945, the factory was nationalized. Due to the property and the economic problems of the breweries, the last beer was brewed by Grodzisk in 1994. Now, after a break of more than 20 years, the legendary beer returns to the shelves thanks to the brewery in Grodzisk Wielkopolski!
