Description

The Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery leads the Craft Beer Revolution in Ontario. The Flying Monkeys brew radical beers and creative ales on the waterfront in downtown Barrie since 2004. It was the first Ontario Craft Brewery that perceived the need to rebuild the conservative regime of macro-breweries and shy small batches as a new culture of craft brewing in our province. By leaving the comfortable and respectable robe of the Robert Simpson Brewing Company and unveiling our true self as Flying Monkeys in late 2008, we have created the collective creativity of our brewery and committed our brewhouse to the adventurous yearnings of the growing culture of Craft Beer Lovers in Ontario. In a dorm, in a garage, in a cellar, in a kitchen - we all started out as beer hackers brewing for cheapness, utility and curiosity. The founder of Flying Monkeys, Peter Chiodo, learned to brew as a small boy in Gramps Etobicoke basement. He gained his skills as a trained university student in Alabama and even taught a student in Mississippi. Our Peter sharpened his talent and learned to appreciate beer that was brewed with hands (no machines). And his passion for local, fresh craft beer grew. Every craft brewer worth something started out as a home brewer. We learned the trade, we followed the curve, we invested our space. If a craft brewery was founded solely as a name, brand or business plan, then you are ashamed of them. Marketing is not brewing.
