Description

Greene King is a British brewery. Through several acquisitions Greene King became the largest brewery group in the British hands. The company also has many pubs and hotel chains. Greene King today holds about 2% of the British beer market. Greene King was founded in 1799 by Benjamin Greene. In the 1950s, the main brand Abbot Ale was introduced. With the acquisitions of Morland Brewery, Ruddles Brewery, Ridleys Brewery, Belhaven Brewery and Kimberley Brewery, the brewery grew into a large group. In 2007, the group already had 790 pubs, in the same year the fish restaurant chain Loch Fyne was taken over, followed in 2011 by the pub chains Cloverleafs, Realpubs and the Capital Pub Company. Since 2013 Greene King is sponsor of the Rugby League RFU Championship. With the new Craft Beer Range, the Grenne King Brewery shows that even larger breweries can brew good beer. All the beers from this range have won the Monde Selection Gold or Silver Award in England. This quality label is awarded by an independent jury of experts and is awarded only to products of particularly high quality.
