How my wife's maiden name became the name of our beer ‘As a young man, I was once sitting in a village pub enjoying a beer. When I had finished the beer and wiped the foam from my lips, I reached into my trouser pocket and was shocked to realise that my wallet wasn't there. It must have been lying on the kitchen table at home. As a regular, it was of course no problem to have it written down and so the landlord noted ‘MEMBIER 4,- Schilling’ on the black chalkboard. As I was saying goodbye to one of my friends, I heard a guest who had been deep in conversation say: ‘A MEMBIER for 4 shillings? Bring us a round right away, let's try it!’
When Grandpa Helmut told us this true story, he couldn't have known how much influence it would have on our lives today.
Back in 2015, I joined a microbrewery and gained my first experience of brewing beer. Brewing beer is very similar to my hobby of cooking. There are ingredients where you have to pay attention to quality and the right quantity. But only with the necessary dedication, love and time can it become a pleasure.
In order to fulfil the demands of our time and our own high quality standards, we focus on regionality and sustainability. The basis for our gourmet beer is Landschach spring water, which we found in our home town, the location of our brewery. We also source quality Austrian malt from the local family business STAMAG. Only selected hop varieties are used in our beer and they also grow and thrive at home.
Brewing beer is a family affair for us
We take great pleasure in creating something together as a family and enjoy celebrating this. The whole family comes together to brew and bottle our lifestyle beer.
