BEER BROUGHT US TOGETHER - AND KEEPS US TOGETHER Interested to know more about the founders of naïlo, Bence and Anna? Then keep reading! While studying food science in Budapest, Bence started to think that spending an Erasmus exchange in Oulu could be great. And so it was! He made a lot of friends and fell in love with the Finnish weather. (Hard to believe, we know.) After returning to Budapest and graduating, Bence started to gain work experience in different places. First, he worked as a research brewery manager at Corvinus University in Budapest, and then he worked at the Hungarian breweries Dreher and Horizont Brewing. It was at the latter that he finally entered the world of craft beer production. But something drew him back north. The feeling grew, so he finally gave in to it and left. But Bence's journey with beer didn't end there. A few years after returning to Oulu, he and his friends founded Mallaskellar, a pub specialising in craft beer. There he met Anna, our other beer maker. Originally from the Czech Republic, Anna spent the summer of 2019 in Oulu for a language course. Although her studies have nothing to do with beer, she has always been passionate about craft beers. Anna's roommate was an enthusiastic home brewer and got her interested in the brewing process itself. After visiting a few fascinating Czech microbreweries, Anna knew brewing beer was for her. When the opportunity to start a brewery with Bence came up, she didn't Anna, from the Czech Republic, spent the summer 2019 in Oulu on a language course. Although her studies have nothing to do with beer, she has always been passionate about craft beers. Anna's roommate was an enthusiastic home brewer and got her interested in the brewing process itself. After visiting a few fascinating Czech microbreweries, Anna knew brewing beer was for her. When the opportunity to start a brewery with Bence came up, she didn't hesitate to take it. And from there, Naïlo was born. We've been brewing beer together since September 2021, and we hope to continue brewing for years to come!
