WELCOME TO VON TRAPP BREWING Enjoy tasty, fresh lagers at Von Trapp Brewing at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. In the course of many visits to Austria, Johannes von Trapp, the youngest son of Maria and the baron, learned to appreciate the fresh, pure Austrian lagers. When the craft beer movement gained momentum in the United States in the early 1990s, there was a significant lack of focus on lagers. This is not surprising when you consider that lager beers are more difficult to brew, require a longer aging time and are therefore more expensive to produce. For two decades Johannes dreamed of building a brewery based on the Austrian model in the Trapp Family Lodge, and in 2010 this dream came true. A modest brewery with an annual capacity of 2,000 kegs called Trapp Lager attracted attention, and the brewery received inquiries from across the United States. The von Trapp family, who were always reluctant to commercialize their family inheritance, realized that they had a product that deserves the family name. The new facility, completed in 2015 under the name of Trapp Brewing, allowed the family to expand beyond their home area and spread the gospel of the artisanal camp.
