Brewer's Advent Day #22: Schloßbräu Rheder Original Pils

We remember: The families of the Barons of Spiegel and the Barons of Mengersen are among the oldest and most important noble families in Westphalia. Rheder Castle has been the ancestral seat of the families since the 14th century.

So brewing has been going on for a long time at the Rheder Schlossbrauerei. Let's look forward to the outstanding Pilsner. Golden yellow, white foam. Bright shine. Fine hop note in the nose: grassy with citrus notes. Lean and hop accented. Very balanced. Good drinkability. A really good pilsner. Just the way the Germans love it.

“Just the way Germans love it”; and this American loves it also. It has everything I look for in a great Pils: Clear, bright golden color, rich creamy head, grassy & malty notes in the aromas, crisp and clean with a sharpness up front and a mildly sweet finish. Well done!

This is an enjoyable Pils. A bit of a bite with the first sip, but drinkable after that. Cheers! 🎁🍺✨🎄🇺🇸☃️🍻

Nice tasting Pils. Was a bit more bitter than I’m used to in a Pils, but after the first sip it was fine. The smell was delicious and the foam very good.

Big Pilsner fan here. This one did not disappoint Great hop/malt balance and strong head retention. Another one that I hope makes the cut for next year!
