For this second creation of the wood barrel-aged 'Honey Barrel' series, our HONEY, I LOVE YOU was allowed to store for 3 months in a Sassicaia barrel - prefilled with Egilse Single Malt Whisky. Sassicaia is a legendary and very exclusive red wine that revolutionized Italy's viticulture in the 1980s. This rarity owes its name to a field near the town of Bolgheri on the Tuscan Mediterranean coast. Sassicaia is the only wine in Italy with its own DOC (= Controlled Designation of Origin). At the Egilse whiskey distillery, this Sassicaia oak cask was used several times as a finishing cask for single malt whiskey before we filled it with our beer.
